Trashed Coachella 2019Marconi was selected as one of the featured artists for Trashed Art/Coachella 2019. Launched at the House of Machines in Downtown LA, this bin art was also exhibited at this year's Coachella Music Festival (2019). His work on a 64 gallon Recycling Bin was sponsored by Absolut Vodka. This creation pays homage primarily to our transgendered brothers and sisters, a marginalized community long shunned and persecuted by mainstream society. The colors and butterflies depicted, represent hope, strength and positive transformation. This piece honors the courage of those, who despite the most difficult of obstacles and adversity, still choose to live their truths and become the beautiful butterflies they were meant to be. This is a pivotal moment in history for the LGBT community. It is our time to step out of the shadows and be heard, respected and be invisible no more.

By Marconi Calindas 24" x 18" Acrylic and Ink on Canvas This painting is my tribute to the ingenuity of this legend, Robin Williams. Like some, Robin Williams was my childhood too. I practically watched almost every film he made. He made me laugh, he made me cry. He made me believe to always, "Seize the Day." That has been my motto since "Dead Poets Society." To Mr. Williams, whom I never had the chance to meet in person, thank you and here's looking up too, just like your daughter, Zelda. |
